Rings of Power: Positive vs Negative

criticisms are to be expected
My god.
Criticisms are NOT what are being posted here.
Attacks on certain individuals are... cannot you tell the difference?
Criticisms result in discussions, contributions, and things to think about.
When you all start doing that rather than just spewing muck, we'll start listening.
Meanwhile this thread is very close to being locked.

I don't see that any individuals are being attacked, unless your perception of attacked is different from mine. Or is the series ROP itself being considered an individual? I do see criticisms of the show here in this thread, even if they are harsh (justifiably, imo). Even the show's number one defender's appraisal of the show is hardly a glowing recommendation.

When you all start doing that rather than just spewing muck, we'll start listening.
Again, what "muck", what "vitriol"? Can you offer one example of any individual having muck or vitriol thrown at them? As far as anyone listening, I'm indifferent. Like what you like. You can't qualify or quantify taste.

Who attacked who?
If you refer to my post about Halasian... and that was deleted....
hah.. it was never meant as attack.. it was meant to cheer up the thread a little bit, and bring a smile to his face.
I have nothing against the guy.. under-contrary, I find refreshing his attempts to defend the show.

Relax man...
In Rop's words:
Try to be a ship that looks up and float, instead of being rock that looks down, and therefore sinks.

@Ent can you lock this thread for today, unlock it tomorrow?
Sure could. However it would be pointless.
Another would just be started.
We've already got at least a dozen where virtually everything said here has already been said, in about 90 different ways.
But it's not yet enough...nor does it add to the knowledge, understanding or value of Tolkien and his works to the world.

Venting needs a valve to be opened. Such threads are those valves. The problem is there's always more steam... producing nothing new and the same lack of profit or result.

Naught but space and time consumption.
Dr. Phil: "How's that workin' for ya". Well... it must be doing something unknown, because it never goes away, looks different, or gets better.

This thread is refreshing. The Rings of Power is pretty and some of the acting is good. I love the dwarves in the show, and handsome Sauron is bizarre--but entertaining to watch as fan-fiction. Though both comparisons are hyperbolic, if Amazon is Morgoth, then the representation of Middle-Earth is the silmaril in his crown. I like the PJ/Aulë comparison from earlier. Good points were already made about the beauty of the setting, and watching it is, to me, a bit like exploring middle earth from when the Lord of the Rings Online game first came out. There's a lot of unfamiliar chaos walking around, but it's beautiful and fun to explore.

Not sure Huan would approve all of these cat memes.
