Robert Redford as Jeremiah Johnson.
It's one of my favorite movies to watch over and over.

One film he directed always gets overlooked: Quiz Show ...almost but not quite a docu-drama of the quiz show scandals in the 1950s, focusing on the show Twenty-One.

I like him best in Three Days of the Condor but that's mainly because it features a certain Swedish actor.
"Personally, I'd prefer Europe."

I just watched him in Spy Game with Brad Pitt. Both mom and grandma loved his movies, and I saw a lot of them through my life. Too many to note, but I loved The Great Waldo Pepper and The Horse Whisperer, and some older movies like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. He was instrumental in promoting independent films with his Sundance Studio and festival. A lesser-known movie I loved that he was involved with is Incident at Oglala: The Leonard Peltier Story. Robert Redford narrates, and with his name and money promoting it, gave it a wider audience in theatres.

Rest in Peace Robert Redford. I'm off to watch Our Souls At Night with him and Jane Fonda with my mom.

Ah, the silver screen dims a little. Robert Redford, a man who could make mountain air look like poetry and sunrises feel like confessions, has quietly slipped beyond the horizon. His footsteps echo in empty theatres now, but oh—the stories those footsteps told.

Redford wasn’t just an actor; he was an artist of light and landscape. He taught us the warmth in a glance, the misunderstanding behind a smile, the wind in a sailboat against an endless sea. He made us believe in gentle heroes and raw truths and the possibility that even flawed people can make beauty.

May his journeys beyond curtain-fall be full of wild skies, golden hills, and all the stories he hasn’t told yet.
