RoTK EE: A Purist's Review

I understand if for cinematographic purposes PJ wanted to keep things brighter if for no other reason than to differentiate it visually from Helms Deep. But then why have Gandalf go on to Pippin about how the orcs of Mordor cannot bear sunlight, if only a few minutes later we see the orcs standing before Minas Tirith in bright daylight? I know that Gandalf's talk was more or less taken from the book, but in terms of the internal logic of the movie, it didn't make sense to emphasize the orcs' need for darkness and then show them all gung-ho and ready for battle with sunlight streaming through their hair.

I enjoyed the EE, but this was one detail which I have to say I found very irritating.

i dont know how many times i have mentioned this in the TTT, and in the ROTK....It looks like Peter jackson had a bit of lighting problem in his CGI. He had a problem with most of his scenes to be honest...the Dead Marsh was really appalling.

In reality you need to have a light source (the sun) to produce the reflections. But for a movie, it would have been better to have the creatures give off light directly. In this way he could have provided some eierie scenes.
