Searching for HoME in Canada

I'm having a very hard time finding a matching set of all 12 (13 with the Index) History of Middle Earth books in Canada. I've tried every bookstore in my area and nobody will special order. I tried Chapters.ca, Amazon.ca, Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. None of them have a matching set available. I'm just wondering if any other Canadians are having problems finding them, and if not, how are you getting them? I've even e-mailed Harper Collins and even they don't have a matching set anymore. At least if they do they're not telling me about it.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "matching set".

The World's Biggest Bookstore in Toronto usually has most or all of the HoME series continually in stock on the shelves of the J.R.R. Tolkien section in the HarperCollins paperback editions.

Other bookstores in Toronto are likely to have a few of them in stock.

They match in appearance with one another and so are a matching set even though not advertised or sold specially as such. There may be minor changes in color layout and cover text in different reprintings of the different volumes.

Go to HarperCollins Canada Ltd. and use their search engine with the entry "Tolkien" and the category "author". All thirteen volums of the paperback editions appear along with the three volumes of a new hardcover edition containing the contents of the original thirteen separate volumes.

The problem you are having is probably that HarperCollins does not sell them as a "set" and so you cannot order them as a "set". Any volume you want must be bought separately from a bookstore or ordered separately.

I got my entire collection of HoME (aside from my black leather three volume collection) from Ebay.

No I'm not trying to buy them as a "set".. I just want all 13 books to match. For instance I found a few that have a picture on the front and a black box with the title. Then I found a few more (most actually, but not all) with the picture and the title on top. But I couldn't find all 13 with the same kind of design. And I live all the way across the country from Toronto, so that's not going to do me any good. And I've been to the Harper Collins website, and I've e-mailed tham and they refuse to let me buy the books directly from them. I'm getting so frustrated.

I've been buying my books separately and from what I've seen, they are all the same. I have bought 6 of them (most from the same bookstore for half the price and in new condition). I haven't seen many that differ from each other so it all works out.

Yea there's no bookstores around here that carry the books. Most of them don't even have The Sil or UT most of the time. We have a Coles in town and a Chapters close by, and neither of them will special order. None of the smaller independant book stores carry any of them at all. And I've tried to order them and can't find matching ones.
