Yeah, that's confusing. I think the questioner is saying that Mount Doom's heat was all used up in destroying the Ring so it froze (and somehow this would prevent Sauron's undoing). But of course, it's a dopey thought even if it were clearly worded.

Kind of hoping it wasn't a serious question. But it sounds more like a "fan fiction" question than a troll question. Suggesting their idea is better than what Tolkien wrote, perhaps.

Actually folks.....any physics majors out there? Anyone who took even high school physics?
The situation as described, i.e. using all of the remaining energy (fire) in Mount doom, and we do mean every last available erg, then yes, the mountain would freeze (assuming it absorbed no energy from the atmosphere). It's how your refrigerator/ freezer works, and your air conditioner.
Now, as far as it being a plausible scenario in the grand opera of ME lore?.....
It ranks right up there with having the Ninja bears invade Mordor, blasting away with their plasma cannons🙄.

Probably not as powerful as when he was two eyes.... depth perception would definitely be affected.
Also with only one eye he could only be atop one place at a time.
But if he were two eyes he could be atop Barad-dur AND be at, say, the Morannan or Cirith Ungol or even right there at the Sammath Naur.
Or maybe at Orthanc or Amon Sul, Rivendell, really just about anywhere in ME.
In which case JRRT probably would have said "To hell with the whole thing; his eyes can be damn near anywhere. ME is doomed."
And so he puts down his pen, picks up his hat, and sets out for the Bird and Baby to listen to CS Lewis talk about Narnia.

Thanks, Aethelwulf! Don't know why I didn't think to check UT. Pretty silly of me.

As for the answer to that question, I'm not sure the book really says. I'm guessing it has to do with the doom of Isildur and Meneldil hoping Isildur leaving Gondor meant his demise could be forestalled or prevented.
 
Wikipedia:

I wonder what result an EEG would produce if those asking a lot of these questions (not all of them) were to examined while posting the questions. 🤔
