I saw a documentary yesterday called "The Flemming Rasmussen Trilogy" which is about Metallica's second, third and fourth albums, all produced by Danish producer/engineer Flemming Rasmussen. At one point, the video tells how one snippet of a solo in the song "Master of Puppets" is an affectionate nod to the David Bowie song "Andy Warhol", which was suggested by the band's late bassist Cliff Burton (we're approaching the 40th year of his unfortunate and untimely passing 😔). Similarly, a solo in the song "The Four Horsemen" on the band's first album Kill 'Em All has a nod to the Lynyrd Skynyrd song "Sweet Home Alabama".

So, anyway, these kinds of musical tributes pop up in songs, that aren't necessarily ripoffs (though ripoffs are acceptable too). I was wondering if anyone else can think of any such tributes or parts of songs that refer to songs by other artists.

“She Had Me At Heads Carolina” by Cole Swindell is about “Heads Carolina, Tails California” by Jo De Messina.
“What’s Your County Song” by Thomas Rhett and “Favorite Country Song” by HARDY both reference several other country songs.
