Dwarf-Metal by the Italian Band Wind Rose:

Legends bring legends:

EDIT: Orchestral version:

Which singer's voice would you want to hear as you lay dying?

What prompted you to ponder on that? 😭

I'd go with this, would probably stop dying after it.

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

What prompted you to ponder on that? 😭

Being a lot closer to it than you are. 😄

Another one from Timo:

The winner of the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series, announced today:

[Halasían]

Some blues by Alan 'Blind Owl' Wilson.

[Olorgando]

This is probably one of the vinyls I've listened to more than most others ...

[Olorgando]

Bessie Smith and Louis Armstrong ... about 98 years ago ... 🥴
EDIT: OK there was no such thing as an album then (this could get extensive) ... 😬

[Berzelmayr]

[Tyelkormo the Fair]

Which singer's voice would you want to hear as you lay dying? My current pick is this one:

But we'll see how it goes.

Probably Aurora
She sounds like an angel so I can at least have the illusion of going to heaven

[Olorgando]

George Benson's version of "Take Five" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, composed by their alto saxophonist Paul Desmond, from Benson's 1974 album "Bad Benson".

[Tyelkormo the Fair]

Martin Romberg's compositions of a few of Tolkien's Elvish poems is pure perfection
It's sung by a Choir and what I always imagined Elves would sound like

[CheriptheRipper]

Ain't all that bad actually 😯

The Shoutbox discussion moved me to recommend Zander's Mahler cycle. One nice feature of the CD releases is that they include a separate disc where he gives an analysis of each symphony. These don't seem to be on YouTube, but here's one discussion of the Sixth:

The performance of the symphony itself is on YouTube; here's the first movement:

The others are available there too, though I have to say YouTube isn't the best way to listen to a lot of music, especially classical, and even more especially, Mahler.

Here's Dave Hurwitz on the Sixth, with his picks (Zander doesn't appear):

[Halasían]

Life left you a broken boy, man
To fight the war an angry young man
Now it's time to be a shaman
Take these wings and learn to fly man

I lost my grip and took a trip
On a magic mushroom rocket ship
Rode the waves and didn't flip
The rainbow-flavoured astral trip

[CheriptheRipper]

Haven't seen anyone post my boy Omar yet (not that I check in here that often tbf) but I'll take any chance to promote NPR's tiny desk performances 😎

Especially the first song "En El Olvido" is beautiful.
