The Ring, what does it do for 👁️Sauron?

The Ring

I was wondering, what does the Ring do for Sauron's dominion? I can see how it would make him more powerful personally and how it would hurt the Elves by keeping them from using there Rings, but what about getting the Ring would make him so much more powerful to a point of being undefeatable? Any ideas?

I'm sure that Sauron would not be unbeatable with the one ring, since the Valar would take him out, but he may be virtually unbeatable by the Elves and Men in the Third Age. I'm sure that the armies of Rohan and Gondor are not as strong as those form the last alliance of Elves and Men. Also, look at the trouble that those guys had against Sauron even when he didn't have the Ring. With it, he would be damn near unstoppable, unless he did something really foolhardy, which I doubt would happen since he was tired of getting his butt handed to him.

To "preserve" his power and gain dominion over the other folk of M.E. Sauron poured himself into this ring... It carries much of his power. That is why its destruction is his destruction. Once on his finger, he is at least double what he is now. The Valar could still squash the insolent little Maia that he is, but I doubt any force on M.E. could... and live after doing it.

No one could defeat Sauron if he had the ring. Not even Gandalf the White. Just look what happened to the spirits of the men in Minas Tirith when the Nazgul was on the other side of the wall. They lost all hope until Gandalf walked by.

Why would the Ring make his armies any harder to fight then without it? I understand that it would be almost impossible to destroy Sauron himself again if he had the Ring. But why would he gain victory any faster with the Ring then if the Council had decided to through it into the sea?
