Indeed. And I think the contrast between how the adult Celegorm feels about Fëanor, and how Fëanor responds to what has befallen his son, makes it doubly sad. It shows how far Fëanor fell, how much he had changed by the end of his life. His children mean so much to him now, but their fates seemed to matter to him so little at the end.
