Tolkien Artwork

Is there actually a thread on photos or landscapes reminiscent of Middle-earth? Since I haven't found one, I'll post it here...

Tolkien's own drawing of Rivendell:

Tolkien had his inspiration for this from his hike through the Swiss Lauterbrunnen Valley. (Hence the name Bruinen / Loudwater; German "Lauterbrunnen" ~ English "loud well").
I did this hike in 2016. Here some photos (click to enlarge):

It's really a magical place and the parallels are very clear (unfortunately, the photos show it only rudimentarily). It' a narrow valley between two steep rock faces, and at the end you can see very high, snow-covered mountains. (For example the nearby "Jungfraujoch" and the surrounding mountains were his inspiration for some prominent heights of the Misty Mountains like Zirakzigil, but that would be another topic... but I also have some nice photos of it. 😉 )

But why am I coming up with this now?

The G7 summit is currently taking place. Although not in Switzerland, but in the Bavarian Alps in the castle hotel Elmau, which somehow reminds me of Tolkien's drawing: It is a rectangular, large mansion with a pointed tower in front of a mountain wall, surrounded by trees:

Except for TTF, of course. 😁
Of course, you should immediately upload any photo that reminds you of Middle-earth here.
(Well, if I would do that, the server would explode). 😉

Alright, here's another photo I took of the original Silvertine back then in 2016.
The mountains are called "Eiger", "Mönch" and "Jungfrau".
