He deserved to have done better by himself. Honestly, Maedhros, Maglor, and [the youngest twin who got burned alive on the ships] all should have known better than to make an Oath as they did. But once bound couldn't escape, no matter how much like their mother they were at all other times. :/ Eru is a god of compassion, though. I feel that in Arda Unmarred they will find healing, if not in the Halls of Mandos (though they'll never be released to be reincarnated until the very end).
Two interesting takes on Isengard. Both make it quite large and intricate. I approve.
The Voice of Saruman, by Alan Lee. Orthanc Destroyed by John Howe.
Very nice.
I kind of like the 2nd one better, as the 'black stone' is said to be very slick, with 'many faces', 'looking wet', and not porous enough for the Ents to get a grip on.
the first one looks a little too dull and 'granitey' to me... too porous.
And sadly, they both have either 30 or 31 steps to the door. Just a few too many. There were 27.
But nice they are... certainly 'imposing-looking.'
