In our household we are deeply steeped in the Hobbitly literary traditions. Sometimes at mealtime, when the provender is especially good or after a long day outside in the gardens when everyone is very hungry, there will be a long pause in the conversation as we tuck in enthusiastically. And then somebody will say: ... "twenty minutes steady going"... (invoking that moment in Bombadil's house). And it breaks the dam open and the words flow!
Posted about this in the Gardening thread as well, but I have been gardening like crazy these past few weeks and that always makes me feel very hobbit-ish.
Tolkien moments of today:
Went back at last to my current book on Tolkien's works, and started re-writing parts of Chapter 1 in preparation for moving into Chapter 2.
Also, sitting here on TTF discussing Tolkien matters, observing Tolkien nerds, and otherwise consuming time in Tolkien ways.
(I strongly suspect I'm not the only one who actually seeks out the consumption of time on Tolkien matters in Tolkien ways.)
