finished UT a while back, and the whole time I'm reading Turin's story I was thinking what a great movie it would make... except of course him marrying his sister... not to sure how a regular movie audience would react to that...
I love the story of Turin, it's my second favorite, but not by much. I like the story of Beren and Luthien just a teeny bit better. It would be really cool to have it as a movie. I think that if current movie audiences can accept what they already do, then Turin and Nienor marrying without knowing it would be very acceptable to people. I think that a lot of people would like it, but not many people know about it, some know what was in the Sil, but very few know more. So, I also think that people who dislike Tolkien (for there are a few of those...), would go, because they don't know about it. Okay, now I'm just rambling, I'll shut up now....
I thought the same when I read it. Many stories in the Sila nd uT would be very confusing and not interesting for the general public, but the Narn could work very well. It had enough material for a 3-hour movie but not so much that too much has to be cut out.
I even had a thought that you could have a movie using the same basic storyline/theme set in modern times... kind of anyway... like what they did with Romeo and Juliet a few years back... just my $.02 worth...
