What change in the movies ticks you off the most?

Yeah, you could probably cause a fracture and/or a concussion with a cast iron pan but it's not an ideal weapon. Also, there's the weight factor. I don't think Sam would travel with something so heavy that it could brain an orc. Also, the frying pan kind of makes a serious situation into a farce.

And don't forget the Mighty Frying Pan! Of Doom!

Well, the frying pan is cast iron (then again it might be PTFE lined aluminium 🙄😄) which is likely a heavier gauge than any helm bronze or iron.
(Or maybe it's only urethane hitting urethane..... BOING-BOING! 😁)

And let's not forget this:

Also, tbf, that particular orc is not wearing any head protection.

Actually on a high enough velocity a arrow can get through armor.
Precisely the reasons English longbow (copied from the Welsh) troops led the slaughter of masses of French knights in the battles of Crécy in 1346 and Agincourt (the town's actual name was Azincourt - the English were always lousy at foreign languages) in 1415. Those English (and Welsh) longbowmen were highly trained specialists, the bows had pull weights of up to 160 ponds, perhaps more, and those thick war arrows of perhaps three feet of length were small missiles.

Uh, no. It depends on arrow and armor.

But bow arrow will never go through a properly made 15th century breastplate. Even English Longbow can, at best, achieve partial penetration against the sides of the helmet, pauldrons, cuissess... but a good breastplate will stop it.

At Crecy and Agincourt, longbowmen did slaughter French knights... but longbow didn't. Longbow served to disorder and unhorse them... but actual killing was done with daggers, mauls and other close-range thingies.

And sure, this may be infantry breastplate, and mass-produced... but orc is shooting short bow here, and I don't imagine it is a very good one either.
