What is your favorite place in lotr?

I love Rivendell . . . not only because it's where a lot of my favorite characters reside, but also because when I was reading the hobbit as a kid, it always sounded so peaceful and wonderful. I live in a mountain valley as well, so maybe there's a familiarity factor there too for me 😄

Lake Evendim and the Twilight Hills. I also like Rohan. My mind's eye has seen them from the book descriptions. Lake Evendim doesn't exist and Rohan is some rocky, scrubby brownish land in the movies.

Here's a related long-running thread:

(I still haven't changed my mind! 😉)

I have a hard time chosing between Moria or Minas Morgul, Mirkwood and Dol Guldur.

Considering my lifestyle, Moria would be possibly the most "Saint-friendly" environment. It's dark, isolated, so many things resides there yet to be discovered and dangerous to enter.....yea, just like my bedroom. 😂

Great question!

I know you asked LOTR specifically, but I will also include a location that in only found in the Hobbit.

1) Rivendell - Rivendell is not only a spectacular looking place, to me it is a place of relaxation and peace. I can picture myself reading a book near the water fall and not having to worry about anything. I also love the race of Elves and their incredible workmanship of weapons, such as their swords (Orcrist) and Bows.

2) Lake-Town - The movies display the town as a cold, harsh weathered looking place, however I love how the town is on a lake and distinguishes itself from other cities in the movie. As we saw in the Hobbit, the city was very wealthy and full of energy before Smaug decided to pay the town a visit.

Cheers!
