Why Rings of Powers Fight Scenes Are Boring

ROP-S1 is more like ebola than SARS/COVID; it outright killed the Appendices and whatever it filched from Silmarillion. Although, I guess it could be considered a disease "engineered" by the Amazon lab, with the Covid-like ability to morph into another pathogen in Season 2.

Yes, well said.

We don't all have to agree on things but I will always push against someone telling me what I should think or like or do. I think here we share common ground! 🙂
No question. But if I tell you I think something you like is garbage, I'm not telling you anything about what you should anything, I'm telling you about what I think or like. It's {choose perhaps expletive-laden insult of your choice} people who seem to be unable to make that simple distinction, as clearly evidenced by their reactions - the phrase best evidencing utter incomprehension is "are you calling me ...?" - has dome more to turn me into a Statler and Waldorf fan than anything else. Besides outright trolls, we've had too many even here on TTF who are incapable of dealing with any disagreement with their opinions.

Wow, we're certainly a bit off track with the Thread. Of course the thread title itself is an Opinion, and shows up an issue with how we handle the written language.
Perhaps this is all about what Ent frequently says - it's not 'what we say'. It's 'how we say it.'
The Thread's title is of course difficult to begin with.

To say "Why the fight scenes are boring" is a declarative, as though it's truth for all, and is unfailingly going to set loose the "It's not boring" response.
To say "Why I find the fight scenes boring" is very different, clearly letting everyone know we're referring to our own take on things.

It would be even better to say "Do you find the fight scenes boring, like I do?" This opens a question, asking for discussion. It would be fine for the OPer to followup in the context with the 'why' he/she finds them boring. In which case no one is nearly as ruffled at being "told" what they are - boring - and feel like they are expected to agree.

The one makes a declarative statement, as an absolute 'truth'. It also tells people 'how they should think about it'... whether it's the intent of the poster to do so or not.

Humans just don't like being 'told' what to do or how they should think about something...and that's what this thread's title and much of its responses do. Others like to express their opinions in very flat, direct and untainted ways.

On both sides, the one approach - the blunt expression and the inevitable response are from the self - selfish.
The other is also from the self - but acknowledges and empathizes with others.

I know, I know... few want to hear they may be able to craft saying things differently, with better results. Nonetheless, to @Jimbo Baggins' point, there would be a lot less tension and a lot more achievement if it were to happen.
