Early Life
The details of Agandaûr’s birth and other personal life are unknown. He most likely began serving Sauron around the Third Age. He learned the art of war and magic through Sauron himself.
War of The Ring
While the Nazguls were on the way to retrieve the One Ring, Agandaûr was on his way to the North to demolish Rivendell by taking over Eriador. He organized a mighty army within the ruins of Fornost. Along with the Chieftain of the Orcs- Tharzog, he taught the knowledge of sorcery to the Orcs using scrolls from his lieutenant, Wulfrun. He first arrives at Sarn Ford where Nazguls had just defeated the Dunedain Rangers. There he meets with the Witch--King of Angmar and informs him that he is ready for an attack to help the Nine Riders in their Hunt for the Ring. He updates him that he has already created a stir between the Orcs of the Mountains and is assembling his army at the Old Fornost. The Witch-King commands him to return and make arrangements for their forces to join. Before taking departure, he also tells him that people of northernlands have been in peace for a very long time and soon they will face Sauron’s rage. Back in Fornost, Aragorn orders to infiltrate the place and stop the orcs from merging with the Nazguls. When Aragorn’s army meets two more infiltrators, Elrond’s twin sons Elladan and Elrohir.
They form an alliance to slay Agandaûr and cripple the Orcs. [2] Elladan and Elrohir chase Agandaûr to the top of Citadel’s tower where they battle him. Agandaûr overpowers the brothers until their fellow intruders arrive. Outnumbered by so many, Agandaûr climbs on the back of Fell-beast and flees the scene. Post his retreat from Fornost, Agandaûr gathers his forces and starts forging alliances for his attack in the North. For this purpose, he destroys the nests of Great Eagles using the orcs and the trolls and recruits Bargrisar for the cause. He is also revealed to be recruiting Urgost the dragon of the Grey Mountains. He offers him the Nordinbad kingdom in exchange for joining his forces. He plots and attacks the Dwarven realm of Nordinbad. After the attack on Nordinbad, Eradan, Andriel, and Farin head towards the former capital of Angmar to battle Agandaûr. Their fight leads them to the bridge of Citadel where Agandaûr tries to use magic to defeat the trio but it doesn’t work. In his final moments, he asks Sauron for help but at the same time, Frodo Baggins destroys the One Ring. Thus, he collapses and dies.
