As depicted in ‘The Lord of the Rings’, Aragorn held a special weapon called a dagger. It was an Elven hunting knife that he kept with him till the Battle of the Black Gate. Galadriel gives this beautifully curved knife to Aragorn that he used effectively throughout the trilogy. The weapon had a long, curved blade and a clipped point. It extended into a robust, thick tang following a curved oak handle. It is an attractive-looking and unique weapon that a King is worthy of. [1]
Adaptations
Peter Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring - As portrayed in "The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring", [2] Lord Celeborn gives a long dagger to Aragorn when the members of the Fellowship were given gifts by Galadriel and Celeborn. Aragorn used the weapon at all the battles thereafter.
The Two Towers - In "The Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers", [3] the dagger can be seen when Eowyn was training with a sword. Aragorn uses it to combat the sword. It also appeared later at the Battle of Helm’s Deep.
The Return of the King - Again, Aragorn’s Dagger is portrayed in "The Lord of the Rings – The Return of the King" [4] when Aragorn fights at the Battle of the Black Gate. He fought a troll and used it to stab its foot when it tried to step on him.
