Cerin Amroth was a mound located north of Caras Galadhon in Lothlórien. It was considered a great tourist stop or a conservatory by the Elves.
Description
Cerin Amroth was a peaceful hill located in the heart of Lothlórien and had two rings of trees as a double crown. [1]The outer ring had leafless trees with snowy white barks, while the inner circle had tall Mallorn trees arrayed in pale gold similar to beech trees. One could hear the tweets of extinct sea birds and the sound of remote seas when gusty winds blew through the boughs. The grass lying at the trees' feet was studded with small beautiful flowers like yellow Niphredil and pale Elanor.
History
Cerin Amroth, located in the Elven realm, at the heart of Lothlórien, came into existence a thousand years after the start of the Third Age. It was initially used as an outlook post by king Amroth, who later built a house on the flet after the Alliance's War. This house perished centuries later. It was here that Aragorn met his soulmate lady Arwen again in Fo.A. 121, gave her the Ring of Barahir, and they got betrothed for life. [2] Aragorn was Arathorn's son and the heir of Isildur. Arwen was Elrond Halfelven's daughter and the grandchild of Celeborn and Galadriel. Arwen came back to Amroth just before the spring of FO 121 after her husband's death, and her grave was built here as well. This peaceful forest was surrounded by evil when Durin's Bane, the Balrog of Moria, was awakened. Unable to bear the aftermath, Nimrodel and her love, Amroth, set out on an expedition towards the southward seas and the perennial lands.
Both the lovers lost their way and got separated. While Amroth waited with a boat near Belfalas, Nimrodel lost her way and perished through the white mountains. Unfortunately, along with his boat, Amroth was carried out into the deep waters by the stormy seas. Thus, the lovers met with a tragic death, trying to find each other through the dense forest. It was remembered that the two sweethearts were eternally united by the waters of Nimrodel and Anduin.
Before the Fellowship days, the voices of Nimrodel and her dotted husband Amroth could be heard when the wind blew into Lórien from the south. The Fellowship of the Ring, composed of Haldir, as an escort and Frodo, halted at Cerin Amroth on their way to meet the Lord and Lady in Caras Galadhon. Frodo felt the southern wind blow upon the ring of trees during their brief halt; bolstering sounds and glimpses of the south ocean also followed. Frodo Baggins, Sam Gamgee, and Haldir marched to the flet, leaving the others behind in the grass. Frodo could get glimpses of Caras Galadhon, Anduin the Great, and witness the extent of corruption of southern Mirkwood left behind by Dol Guldur from the felt.
Frodo saw Aragon lost deep in his thoughts, fiddling with an Elanor flower when he returned to the foot of Cerin Amroth. Frodo envisioned Aragon as a young lord tall and fair, draped in white. At this point, Aragon was engaged in a conversation with someone not in Frodo's view. Aragon, who was well versed in the elvish language, said, "fair Arwen, farewell", looked towards Frodo and gave out a smiling face. Immediately after receiving the fellowship of the ring at Moria, Frodo reached the beautiful and safe Lothlórien. Frodo heard singing voices of invisible people mingled with the rippling water of Nimrodel, the stream beside which he rested. Legolas often sang about the catastrophe that struck Amroth and Nimrodel at Cerin Amroth, the tree-capped mound.
