Emyn Muil, located in the Rhovanion region, encompassed Nen Hithoel on two sides. This vast, intricate entanglement of rocks stretched seventy-five miles east to west and around one-hundred miles north to south.
This hill range was between the eastern province of Rohan and the empty lands that comprised the Dead Marshes and the Nindalf.

Significance of Emyn Muil In The Lord of The Rings
In the movie, The Two Towers, Frodo, and Sam en route to the Black Gate of Mordor lose their course while hiking through the eastern side of Emyn Muil. [1] They stayed there for days before Gollum found them. Gollum was brought down to his heels and eventually guided Frodo and Sam into the Dead Marshes. Gollum was seized by Aragorn in the Dead Marshes during the Third Age. Aragorn, along with Gollum, crossed the Anduin by driving through the northern side of Emyn Muil. This was mainly to not fall prey to Sauron and his loyalists.
