Galadhrim warriors, the elves from Lothlórien, were some of the finest in all of Middle-earth. They were equipped with well-balanced glaives and finely crafted Elven bow. These exceptional fighters guarded many of Middle-earth's chief havens and held back various forces of darkness invading lands that had no hope of protecting themselves. This army marched to war only in the direst of circumstances like several others of the Elven Kingdom. One notable task performed by this army was guarding the capital city of Caras Galadhon with their high-quality weapons.
Portrayal In Adaptations
In the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, Haldir is the leader of the Galadhrim warriors. The same is the case in the book The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers written by Peter Jackson. Haldir gathered an army of around four hundred Elves of Lothlórien and marched to Helm's Deep. These warriors were armed with high-quality armor and robes, two-handed Elven swords, and longbows of the Galadhrim. They bore banners of Lady Galadriel and arrived just ahead of Saruman's Uruk-hai army as instructed by Elrond. [1] The Galadhrim Warriors rallied to save the Men of Rohan, in their hour of need upon Galadriel and Celeborn’s persuasion. The Elves' were also involved in the safeguarding of the Glittering Caves.
The Galadhrim warriors with their superior sword and archery skills defended the Deeping wall and delayed the attack by the opponents. This act of the elves helped Gandalf, Eomer, and the two thousand Rohirrim horsemen to change the course of the battle. The Galadhrim warriors proved very helpful to Rohirrim men who were forced to supplant their ranks with boys and old men due to insufficient manpower to defend the several fortifications of Hornburg and withstand long enough. Haldir and his army of elves were involved in the combat deep into the night. J.R.R. Tolkien's portrayal of the Galadhrim warriors in his books is completely different. The elves were not involved in the combat since Lórien barely survived the three assaults from Dol Guldur. Lorien had no spare forces to help the other kingdoms fight against Sauron.
