Harnen

The river Harnen was a river south of Gondor.

Description

The Harnen formed the southern border of Harondor. It was also the southern most edge of the Men of the West. South of Harnen lay Near Harad

The river was nearly 600 Numenorean miles long, from its source in the Ephel Duath, to its wide delta in Belagaer. The Harnen was crossed by the Harad Road, which was used by the servants of Sauron to march to war on Gondor.

Etymology

Harnen is a Sindarin word that meant "South-water".
