The Leaves of Lorien or Elven Brooches were given to the members of the Fellowship of the Ring by Galadriel when their stay at Lothlorien ended. They were designed to look like green, newly opened leaves with silver veins.
History
In the Third Age 3019, when the Fellowship was preparing to depart Lorien, the Galadhrim got them hooded cloaks matching their sizes. A brooch was given to each traveler to keep the cloak attached to the body. [1] When the Uruk-Hai drove Pippin and Merry across the World, Pippin ran away from the Orcs and was caught quickly, but he dropped his brooch on the ground.
The next day, when Aragorn found the brooch, he confirmed that they were on the right trail. In Henneth Annun, Frodo showed the brooch to Faramir to prove the story. The brooch and cloak of Frodo were presented to the parley group by the Mouth of Sauron at the Morannon.
