An Elf living in Rivendell, Lindir appears in ā€˜The Lord of the Rings’ when Frodo meets Bilbo at the place.

Description

Lindir was one of the listeners of Bilbo Baggins’ poetry recitation at Rivendell. When Bilbo had finished his Song of Earendil, Lindir said that it was not possible to tell what parts were written by Bilbo and what was composed by Aragorn. [1] He explained that all the mortals appeared to be the same as Elves.

Etymology

Lindir might be originating from the Sindarin term "lind" that means "sing" or "chant". Its meaning is "Song Man".

The Lord of the Rings Online - In the 2007 video game ā€˜The Lord of the Rings Online’, Lindir is portrayed residing in Rivendell in the Hall of Fire. The player can see him talking with Bilbo Baggins and they both ask to play a game.

The Hobbit film trilogy - In ā€˜The Hobbit’ series, the role of Lindir is done by Bret McKenzie. [2] He is portrayed as Elrond’s key person in the film. He can be found greeting Thorin and his company as they reach Rivendell. McKenzie had also played the role of ā€˜Figwit’ in ā€˜The Lord of the Rings’ series. He said the two characters were different elves as their hairstyle, costume, and ears differed.
