Mordor Orcs were the foot soldiers of the Dark Lord, Sauron. There were several different categories of Orcs brought to existence in the Land of Shadow by Sauron. These evil creatures followed Sauron's commands and formed a significant part of his army. [1]
History
Second Age
After Sauron became the Dark Lord of Mordor around S.A. 1000, he bred innumerable Orcs to serve him in his battles against the Elves and Men. During the Last Alliance, many Mordor Orcs were sent to destroy the stronger Allied forces. Not successful in their attempt, these Orcs mingled with those from the Misty Mountains.Third Age
In T.A. 2475, the most ferocious and the most muscular Orcs of Sauron called the Uruks of Mordor assaulted Ithilien. They infested the lands, and many Ithiliens fled towards the Anduin. These Orcs multiplied tremendously before the War of the Ring. They were capable of obstructing the roadways from Rhovanion to Osgiliath along the Anduin. In February of T.A. 3019, a group of Mordor Orcs and Moria Orcs was sent to capture the Fellowship's hobbits under Grishnákh's leadership. These orcs killed warrior Boromir and seized Merry and Pippin on the plains of Rohan. On their way towards Isengard, as Saruman's Orcs outnumbered the Sauron's, they were killed by the Riders of Rohan near Fangorn Forest. Frodo and Sam witnessed many Mordor Orcs when they were taken to the Tower of Cirith Ungol after mortally wounding Shelob, the great spider. [2] During the War of the Ring, Sauron's army consisted of Easterlings, Haradrim, Orcs, and several monstrous creatures. They played a prominent role in Sauron's several battles against Gondor before the destruction of the Ring. At the end of the Third Age, when Sauron was finally defeated, most of the Orcs perished into the vast wastelands in the east of Mordor.References
