A valley in the land of Mordor, Morgul Vale was the valley of the Morgolduin. It was guarded by the fortress of Minas Morgul. The only vegetation that grew in the valley was found along the river, white flower fields that gave away poisonous vapors. [1] In order to besiege the Minas Tirith in the Third Age, the Orcs, led by the Witch-King of Angmar, commenced from the fortress and marched towards Gondor through this valley. Frodo, Gollum, and Sam entered the valley through the western end in order to reach the stairway of Cirith Ungol. While crossing the white bridge, Frodo inhaled the noxious odor and felt dazed. He started running towards the city but Sam and Gollum stopped him. [2]As they climbed up the stairway, they left the odor behind in the valley. While passing the crossroads, Aragorn and Gandalf went to Morgul Vale and destroyed the bridge, and also set the fields on fire. Post-war, King Elessar ordered Aragorn to completely destroy the Minas Morgul.
