Description
The Elven Sword is long and has a bare grip. It has a curved hilt and engraved Elvish runes on the straight blade. The blade is also engraved with leaves, vines, and other symbols that represent the Forests of Greenwood, and was made using one single piece of Elven Steel. As reported by the creators of the movie, it was one of the most expensive and rare elements of the movie as the details and authenticity demanded excessive costs in terms of time and money. [2] Today, Several manufacturing chains produce replicas of the Sword for fans using stainless steel and a wooden hilt. The replicas of this piece of Weaponry is owned by fans all across the globe.
Portrayal In Adaptations
Thranduil, the Mirkwood Elven King, owned the Elvish sword in the Dwarven Quest to reclaim their homeland from the Dragon Smaug. It appears in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, where Thranduil uses it to execute the Orc soldiers of Narzug. At the Battle of Five Armies, Thranduil wields a pair of the great Elven Swords crafted by the finest workmen from the Woodland Realm.
