Since my main language is not English, I cannot perceive some articles like you. What exactly does it say in this article? Did ecthelion slay a drake during the gondolin's fall? I found this article on a wiki. And I wanted to ask you.

"Ecthelion, a standout amongst the most gifted warriors in all Gondolin, dueled with Gothmog, and slew him. However, an awful drake flew down and drew in Ecthelion, who gave his life killing the monster, them two toppling in the Fountain of Ecthelion, sending extraordinary fogs up about the whole city."

If the article refers to this part of the battle, as I once wrote in a post called Everything Ecthelion (Almost):

"And as I noted in another thread, Ecthelion is ultimately wounded (Balrog whip to the arm) "and his shield fell to earth even as that dragon of fire drew nigh amid the ruin of the walls" Tuor hews at the foot of the creature and lifts Ecthelion, saving him from the drake -- he takes Ecthelion to the fountain, and after Ecthelion revives from a swoon, he ultimately takes on Gothmog and they both perish."

That's based on The Fall of Gondolin (a very early source), The Book of Lost Tales.

In this early version of The fall of Gondolin are however few abandoned ideas. For example balrogs are there slew in huge numbers (in later Tolkien's writings they are much more stronger and few in number), dragons are described more like tanks than animals (they are from various metals and carry orcish army in their bellies), Idril's tunel led in to the south of Tumladen (later in north).

Yes, I and other folks have previously warned Turin Turambar of the dangers of using the very early version of Gondolin's fall from The Book of Lost Tales.

And of the dangers of some wiki articles too!

Here's where we got into the "nature" of the dragons a bit more, for example. . .

thetolkien.forum/threads/did-ecthelion-kill-any-dragon-during-fall-of-the-gondolin.29603/

Anyway.
I think the fall of gondolin story was the first story that Tolkien wrote, so it changed a lot, and this is confusing about what is and isn't in canon.
