Among Middle-earth characters, who bested evil enemies most?

[Turin_Turambar]

Among the characters who have had the most memorable success against evil in middle-earth, which one do you think has the greatest success?

[Sons of the Woodland King]

I'm giving this one to Earendil. All the listed heroes had courage and strength, but he had the tenacity and humility to seek help from the Valar, which ultimately ended the wars of the First Age. Oh, and it also boggles my mind that he won the battle against Ancalagon the Black.

Gandalf deserves honorable mention due to his tremendous influence, diplomacy, kindness, and wisdom which shaped the outcome of the wars against Sauron.

But Melkor is by far the bigger evil, and Earendil was his downfall.

[Goldilocks Gamgee]

Well, I mean, not to be boring, but maybe the Valar? They cast Melkor out of Middle-Earth, in the end.

When I say success in this regard, I mean individual success and which one has the greatest results of success.

[Áramandë Amaniel]

Earendil.

There's a reason why he's up in the Stars by the Grace of Varda, holding a Silmaril upon his brow.

[Starbrow]

I vote for Luthien, the only one who was able to overcome Morgoth on her own, if only for a while.

Oh in that case I'd probably vote for Earendil as well, maybe Tulkas because he personally pounced on Melkor and captured him iirc

[Ricardo]

I vote for Luthien, she put Carcharoth, Morgoth and a whole bunch of monsters, including balrogs.
