Whoa, this is indeed most detailed! May I ask how you sourced all these numbers with certainty?
The numbers are not actually certainty, they are average. That is, they are more or less data. It is very difficult to obtain clear data. Especially if we are talking about Tolkien's legendarium. I created the numbers by collecting and quoting from some sites on the internet.

So @Momcilo and @Hisoka Morrow . rather than just slamming what HAS been done (and demeaning the poster by telling him/her they 'need to read the books'), how about helping?

Comsider a different approach, like, oh: "I don't recall Elves bding in Helm's Deep. Should that be on the list?"
And maybe "here are some battles you missed, maybe some people would want to add to the list."

Gosh.. i'm thankful for what has been done.
I always remember my old Entish father saying 'if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all.'

But then... I come from a very different age, I suppose...

Very wise of you

While I appreciate the effort involved, I've cautioned before about using websites, especially those that mix sources from books, films, video-games, and RPGs, without citation references. It can result in some strange mishmashes.

I find the ambition and the work behind it very respectable, but I would ask for a source reference for each individual figure, otherwise it is all pure fantasy or subjective speculation. However, providing sources would at least give us a basis for discussion and other opinions, which would certainly enrich the topic.

Dear Ent, I think these friends did not use a bad tone. They just jokingly expressed their own opinions and what was wrong. Yes, of course, you are right too. But I was not offended by their messages. They are not messages with a bad tone. As an admin, I understand what you need to do. Although Even though you wanted to maintain the tone and etiquette in the forum, frankly, I did not find any offensive expressions in those messages. Still, I would like to thank you for continuing your duty and trying to maintain order in my position, as you do in everyone else's matter.

There ware no elves from Lothlorien in battle of Helms Deep, you need to read books
I have read the book. According to the book, of course there are not 1000 elves from Lothlorien. But there were in the movie. I took the movie as a basis.

You forget bunches of conflicts between Gondor and ME evil Men such as Wain-Rider Wars, and so on, my dear XD
The war you mentioned does not belong to the War of the Ring. In my topic, I only discussed the War of the Ring as the Third Age Wars.

I did not include a source. Because each Middle Earth information site and wiki contains its own information that is not available on other sites. But if you want, I can tell you the notionclubarchives as the source I quote the most. It is a very comprehensive and beautiful site. If you are curious, take a look there.

I took the movie as a basis.
Please always add a disclaimer to this in future.
In a forum that even refers directly to Tolkien in the URL, you should be able to assume by default that you are quoting from his works.
At first glance, many of the figures seemed quite plausible to me, until I saw the Elves at Helm's Deep. This is where PJ really messed up.

I took the movie as a basis.
Yes, and this is what SeS was referring to as well.
The TTF site is dedicated to Tolkien's work(s) mostly, and learning as much as we can from those.
The movies and their contents aren't Tolkien's works... though we do have threads and places to discuss those.

So we need to be careful to distinguish rightly what is Tolkien, and what is not, so we don't confuse fact with fiction, stipulating up-front when any of our information comes from other than his own writings...particularly from the "movie-dom," which is far askew.

It's very suitable for other Forums and sites where their focus is different... but should be identified here.

I'm glad you didn't read any offense into the members' posts above... I probably jumped too quickly on the content.

I noticed there were a couple small skirmishes from the Hobbit book that weren't mentioned, so I'll do my best to add to the list, but the Valar know I'm terrible with numbers, so I won't go into detail.

The Battle of Goblin-Town - Thorin's company (13 dwarves, a Hobbit, and an Istari) and some Goblins.
The Fir Trees - Thorin's company, Goblin Warg Riders, eagles.
The Spiders and the Flies - A Hobbit, and some spiders.
The Battle of Esgaroth - Archers of Lake-Town, Smaug.
The Battle of Five Armies - Champions of Erebor Reclaimed, Survivors of Lake-Town, Mirkwood Elves, Goblin-Town, Eagles.

Hope this helps!
