Tolkien Artwork

I discovered this art yesterday and I really, really like it.

If I understood the caption correctly (it was in Russian), this is Maedhros, a "loyal Elf," and the Easterlings Bór and Borlad.

One of the few artworks I've ever seen accurately depicting the godly stature of Valinorian Elves!

I found the completed version of this artwork. Apparently the other elf is an original character.

Feanor Spirit of Fire

Fëanor, light of creation, fire of destruction.
The flamey disgruntled one is shown here with both the sword he forged and scale armour inspired by Bronze Age equivalents, (too early in Elf history for anything similar to our medieval), and holding his smith's hammer. Above him the light of the silmarils wax and wane as though at war with the redder light of war that's also within him.

Annatar (Sauron) and Celebrimbor

'Annatar' guides the hand of ‪Celebrimbor‬, greatest of the Elven smiths. In the top left and right corners, Elrond and Galadriel shun him. They couldn't see through his disguise, yet still they didn't trust him.
The rings that were made in secret are embedded in the frame: on the left, right and bottom are the three Elven rings forged by Celebrimbor; and above Sauron's head is the One Ring. At this time it was still just an idea.

In Tol-in-Gaurhoth

Lúthien and the Hound Huan came to Beren's rescue, and Huan killed the wolves sent against him. After Draugluin was killed Sauron went out in wolf-form but was defeated. Lúthien got control over the isle's magic from Sauron, who fled, and Minas Tirith was reduced to ruins. Finrod was buried there. The isle remained clean afterwards, but after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad it was retaken by Morgoth and its towers rebuilt.

"All" seems odd, as he did more than the ones shown. There was a series of posters in 1976; I have this one:

I met him once, sort of; I was introduced by another artist friend, while we were walking down the street, and he was up a ladder, replacing letters on a theater marquee.
