Firstly, apologies to the Ent for stealing his wonderful phrase!

I've realised that I haven't even looked at the Kindle I've had for over ten years for about three years or so, and have been buying physical books for pretty much five years. No real explanation as to why, it just seems to have happened.

In my defence I only buy second hand books or use the free Street Libraries here in Sydney, so the plants have already been harvested, so to speak, but I was wondering if anyone else has given up one medium for another?

I prefer paper books because it is much easier for me to concentrate on them, but am often forced to use e-books since there are no proper libraries where I live.

Oh dear! I can't imagine not having a proper library near me.
I think that's why I've graduated to physical books - it does seem much easier to concentrate holding a paper book in your hand.

And as an aside I really dislike my local library having multiple copies of what they call 'electronic resources' but no actual physical copies of new books!

I'm limited to my phone for any online reading, and my eyesight isn't what it used to be, so no digital books for me.

I prefer owning hard copies anyway, and have been fortunate enough to live most of my adult life in proximity to plentiful sources of used books: yard sales, thrift stores, and especially library book sales.

Unfortunately, my book-greed has resulted in living among mountains of them, to the point that I started taking some to flea markets, in an attempt to cut down on the piles. Sadly enough, I found others doing the same, and frequently returned home with more than I took. 😥

I do both. If it’s a book I know I’ll never read again I borrow from the library, sometimes in ebook form so I don’t have to go in to get it (lazy but I have kids 😂). But if it’s a book by an author I really like, like Brandon Sanderson or Tolkien, or just a book I’m really excited about and possibly will read again, I’ll buy a physical copy. I also buy ebooks some just because they don’t take up as much space and reading on a kindle is enjoyable to me too.
