Silmarillion characters that had a role in the fall of Morgoth

I mean, those who have a direct role, not merely being an ancestor of someone who did

Melian: It was from her that Luthien got the magic abilities she used to help obtain the silmaril
Luthien: very important, he powers allowed Beren to get the silmaril, that would be crucial later.
Dior: His heroic refusal to surrender the silmaril. Have he given it to the sons of Feanor the silmaril would have never got to Earendil
Elwing: fleeing Doriath with the silmaril, casting herself in the sea which resulted on her being turned to a bird by Ulmo and she would find the Vingilot.
Turgon: built Gondolin, without it is hard to say if Idril would have survived long enough to meet Tuor and give birth to Earendil
Idril: another important one, not just being Earendil's mother. She saved his life when Maeglin tried to kill him. She was the one that asked for the tunnel to be built to escape Gondolin.
Tuor: Earendil's father, also played a crucial role in getting Earendil to safety in the heavens.
Earendil: do I need to say anything?
Finrod, without him Beren would have never made it alive to Angband.
Barahir: His heroic defense of Finrod's retreat would earn him Finrod's oath to help him and his descendants, which was why he helped Beren.
Hurin and Huor: again their heroic sacrifice allowed Turgon to return to Gondolin. Hour's prophecy may have been part of the reason why Turgon agreed with Idril marrying Tuor.
Emeldir: she guided the women of Dorthonion to the relative safety of Dor-Lomin. Without her Rian would probably not have survived.
Ulmo: the architect of the whole affair. He pushed Finrod and Turgon to build Nargothrond and Gondolin, which will keep important actors alive long enough to fulfill their role. He guided Tuor into Gondolin. Protected the refugees from Gondolin with his power over the Sirion river. Turned Elwing into a bird, not only saving her life but allowing her to find the Vingilot, with the silmaril.

Did I miss anybody?

Eönwë: the Mair who was the banner-bearer and chief herald of Manwe. The text doesn't seem to come out and say it directly, but I think it strongly implies that he led the Host of the West in the victory over Morgoth. And, I think I remember reading somewhere that Eönwë was given Manwë's sword for use in the battle. Guessing a bit here, but I can imagine it was Eönwë who deprived Morgoth of his feet in the end.

"But at the last the might of Valinor came up out of the West, and the challenge of the trumpets of Eönwë filled the sky; and Beleriand was ablaze with the glory of their arms, for the host of the Valar were arrayed in forms young and fair and terrible, and the mountains rang beneath their feet."

Yeah, I forgot Eonwe. I was thinking more on the lines of who contributed to the army of the Valar being assembled but certainly Eonwe had a major role.

I'd say - Morgoth. :D
And he also has the biggest roll on Morgoth's fall.

Joke aside... nice thread... can't add anything.
that is not wrong. Morgoth may have been very powerful but not very smart.

Not trying to recover the silmaril and doing nothing against the refugees in the Heavens of Sirion were huge strategic mistakes.

Yet, I was focusing on characters that intentionally helped. Of course many of them would not know the consequences of their actions, except for Earendil, but they still, they have a clear important goal and even if they didn't know the whole picture was still worthy.

There are other examples of characters whose actions helped the cause, but they were unintended consequences. For example Maeglin, his treason meant the destruction of Gondolin but without that, Earendil would have never gone to the heavens of Sirion, meet Elwing and obtain the silmaril that was needed to avoid the enchantments that protected Aman.
