Viewing the Starlink satellite train.
Someone on my WW forum (he is in VA) mentioned seeing the Starlink chain of satellites crossing the sky.
Go HERE to put in your location info to see if the satellites are visible where you are.
The schedule only covers five days into the future, so you many have to keep checking back and re-running the app.
Where I am (AZ) was I was able to see a "train" almost overhead at 04:21 on 30 April.
30 satellites all strung out in a line covering maybe 25-30 degrees of sky.
It really does look like the string on the webpage (don't know if that's a real video or a simulation) .
But they were pretty bright, rivaling the brightest stars that were up (Vega, Deneb, Altair, Arcturus, Antares).
Just like bright stars all strung out in a prefectly straight line.
Edit: Two "trains" were scheduled for the same group of satellites (Star Link 249, G11-9) one 30 April 04:21 (mentioned above) going SE to NE, and the second train 1 May 04:18 going NW to NE.
I just saw the second train... not quite as bright as the first time, and I had to walk about a half mile to get away from the street lights.
The train just "appears" in the sky because it's coming out of earth's shadow, moving generally east. dropping down to the eastern horizon.
Also both times the train was higher in then sky than the app said, almost overhead. The 'show' lasts only a few minutes .
Very, very cool.
Below is a real video from last November (turn off the sound). And it's probably better viewed on the youtube website.
What I saw is very similar to the bright thread, and about the same number.
