Tolkien Artwork

[Tyelkormo the Fair]

This: just to remark that someone (Druna C.) depicted Galadriel. . . well. . . maybe you notice the detail in a world where a number of very talented artists seem set on "sharpening" and/or elongating the Quendian ears -- sharper or more elongated than at least according to my imagination -- even if the Quendian ears were leaf-shaped and "more" pointed than human ears.

Am I the only who feels like this is AI?

Am I the only who feels like this is AI?

It does to me also, but sometimes it's easy to mistake it.
However, we do have thread for AI generated Tolkien art.

It is AI. My apologies, I thought AI could be included here.

Hmmmm. I suppose the following is not allowed as well. . .

"Galadriel" by the great illustrator Florence Harrison

Not allowed 'cause it's not intended to be Galadriel

I do often find arts from other fandoms or creators and use them for such purposes. You're fine. ✨

It is AI.

Besides which, I had a girlfriend whose ears were more pointed than those! 😀

Hey. . . me too!

And it's possibly in this long thread already but. . . Alan Lee, Tuor.

Ah yes, key telltale features with this one being AI (beyond Elthir's confession of course..!) are:
1. the mistake made with the crown. 2. The mistake with the light play / shading on the lips. 3. The odd mistake with the points on the inside of the ears. (Perhaps someone forgot to tell AI where Elven ears were pointed..!)

An artist capable of such otherwise detailed rendering would not make such mistakes.

I immediately noticed the inconsistency of the hair growth. The hair was growing in directions that made no sense!

I think I have a AI pic radar at this point lol. It just feels wrong.

I've used AI myself in the past, and I'm pretty sure I've used that precise setting before, too! 🤣

Wow... thanks for this.. it reminds me how I imagine Balrogs when reading books before movies came.
But with one big difference on the body.
My Balrogs didn't had legs... but shape like this...
2:33 second in this video...

So he would not walk, but more crawl like this with a body shape like this.
But made of fire and shadow like in the image you posted.

Thanks for making me recall my memories.

[Sword&Sorcery]

argh. one of the worst desecrations in PJ's movie..! "Shall not" vs. Tolkien's "Cannot". A world of difference.
(OK i'll go back into hiding now.)

Indeed. It’s correct in Bakshi’s version at least. I do much prefer the original “you cannot pass!”.

[Sword&Sorcery]

On the topic of the 1978 version, here is an animated cel with a rather interesting looking Balrog… both versions have their positives/negatives as we well know 😂
