A New Year’s gift for you all!
In the adorable style I used for 'Pocket Princes'.
I had the idea for the comic, and @Fingon_Findekáno provided me with the designs for the blankets.

May it bring you cheer. :3

I am looking forward to the year ahead, in no small part thanks to the good friends you are.

Curufin: Lord Edrahil! I require your assistance!

C: The end of the year is fast approaching, I have many people to prepare gifts for…

C: …And my inspiration has failed me and I have no idea what to make for anyone!!

C: You have knowledge regarding matters which touch the heart: do you have an idea of what I could do?

Edrahil: hmm…
Well… perhaps something warm and comforting which you could give to everyone. Like… food?

C: Hot chocolate!
Chocolate is very comforting to me.

E: Or… blankets! Being wrapped in a gifted blanket feels like an embrace from the one who gave it.

mettare 2025 p2.jpg

Curufin: Both are good ideas. I shall do both. But… will you help me with the blankets? For I am not practiced in the textile arts.

Edrahil: Ah, neither am I.
But… I know who is!

E: Prince Fingon!
His skills were forged upon the Grinding Ice! He can make blankets out of anything, and clothe a regiment in woolly snugness in a single night!
I exaggerate, but ’tis not far off the truth: the man does not run out of energy

C: *awkward ship arsonist cough*
Indeed so? Let us then ask him.

So off they went to ask Fingon… who of course agreed to help!

All three made good use of their talents…

Curufin made hot chocolate
Edrahil made mugs
Fingon made blankets

…until at last the gifts were ready!

Celegorm
Nethien

Maedhros
Aranya

Glorfindel
Maglor

Tiny Ghost

Curufin: Rest from your labours, my friends. I can do the rest.

*transformation*

Pirate Curvo!

Curufin: Now… off to deliver the gifts to the rest of our hearty crew.

C: I shall sail ‘pon my boat, ’twill be faster.
*salutes*

C: Merry Mettarrrë, mateys!

And thus, Mettarë was a warm and cosy occasion, thanks to
⟡ the power of friendship ⟡

Love from Curvo and Finno
OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

I was already enjoying the ABSOLUTE CUTENESS which is Curufin, Edrahil and Superhero Fingon 😆 but then Everybody Else Came Along!
And you even had Tiny Ghost!
I loved the blankets!
This is fantastic!!!!

🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Glad you guys enjoyed! 🤗

I absolutely love how they're all teeny tiny, but Aranya is extra Teeny Tiny!
She translated well into this style, being so small already. (I 'aww'ed a lot while drawing this comic lol)
And Maedhros the Smol may be the biggest, but that means he also has the biggest eyes! Though this is in part thanks to all the feels hitting him.

Hehe, yes! The height difference between him and Aranya was appropriately adorable!

And I do love to draw him with big eyes even in realistic styles, so.

It was an honor and a joy to collaborate with Curvo in this delightful and heartwarming lil' comic! I am very thankful I had this opportunity. You guys are all such wonderful friends, truly. I cannot express how much you mean to me, how I love talking with you every day, etc. Absolutely a blessing. 🥺❤️

As most of you know, I struggle with putting my thoughts into writing, making it difficult to write stories, share commentary, express my thoughts and appreciation, etc. So many of you write all these amazing stories or create beautiful artwork, and somehow you're able to do it all the time and come up with ideas for gifts for each other. I sincerely love it all, and love this is our tradition. I have often wished I could participate, like you all do, but I never could produce anything, never felt I had anything I could give beyond my words on an online platform. If we were together in-person, I would craft a fleece blanket, unique to each person, for all of you, as that is an area where my strengths in gift-giving lie.

I was very touched when Curvo approached me one day with an incredibly generous offer and essentially asked, "What if you could give your blankets to everyone? 👀"

And so it came to be; Curvo and Edrahil invited Finno to help them in their gift-giving merriment through his blanket-making skills. 🥺😊 I was able to search around online for different fabric patterns, wanting to make each one special and personalized for our Elves. In a way the selection process was easier than if I were in a store, because normally my options would be limited to whatever is currently in stock; here, I could get creative! I am pleased with what I found, and Curvo did a wonderful job designing them into these adorably tiny blankets for everyone. ☺️

Here are the patterns I found as inspiration for your blankets:

Nessa: I wanted to go with a cooler theme here, using white, silver, light blue, etc., and include the moon. I liked the wolf as well, as she's occasionally referred to as a she-wolf. This pattern was also interesting because it almost had Fëanorian stars with wolf paw prints all over (Wolves of the North, anyone?). As you can see, Edrahil was pleased to be the one to present her gifts to her. 😉😊
IMG_2523.jpeg

Tyelko: Raccoons! Lots of raccoons for our cuddly Tyelkoraccoon. 😊 Something a little different than just hunter camo or dogs, but still clearly the Tyelko we know and love. As for colors, I wanted to make green a main color for him as a hunter, with elements of nature in it. Him and Nessa were originally going to have similar blankets since they are somewhat the same person, but they wound up being totally unique from each other, just as Nessa has grown into her own person, separate from Tyelko.
IMG_2524.jpeg

Maitimo: I knew I wanted to go with a burgundy and cream color set for him, but the pattern took a bit longer to decide on, as nothing really spoke "Maitimo" to me, either being too fancy, too floral, too crazy or abstract, etc. He almost wound up with a Christmas sweater pattern with reindeer if I couldn't find anything better. 😂 Eventually I realized-- KITTIES! Kittimo, kitten juice, cuddling with cats; it would be perfect! I'm very glad I found this pattern (which is apparently a blanket that already exists). 😁
IMG_2616.jpeg

Aranya: Cottage-core! Lovely pink and white with a delicate floral design for her. There are even a couple rabbits hiding among the flowers here, so we included one on her blanket. Curvo also suggested adding a duck for Aranyaducky, so it's there too. 😂 (Side note: Finno is very proud to present her blanket to her here, and Curvo joked he probably would have done the same for her in Valinor. Which he absolutely would have. 🤣)
IMG_2556.jpeg

Glorfindel: Of course, bright yellow flowers and green for gwanunig nín! 😊 I was surprised how easy this was to find and how perfect it was. Lord of the House of the Golden Flower, constant ray of Sunshine, and Laurinalótë galore! 🌼✨ A very bright and cheerful blanket.
IMG_2561.jpeg

Maglor: I wanted to find a music theme for him, but didn't have a specific color palette in mind. I found this pattern with a smattering of music notations, and liked the white, black, and red together. If the blanket were any bigger, I had found an alternative pattern with decorative classical music sheets that could have worked for him too.
IMG_2562.jpeg

Tiny Ghost: This one is so adorable! Tiny Ghost is always so endearingly cheery and childlike, and these young ghosties with the happy faces felt like they captured his essence. I also really liked the watercolory purples with the white. Bit of a different color compared to the others, making it unique.
IMG_2567.jpeg

Curvo: I wanted to make his blanket with a black, deep red, and silver theme, as those are his main colors. It took me a while trying to think of a pattern that would suit him well, like I did for Maitimo, but then I thought of looking for something related to blacksmithing. Not much out there, but I did find this! I actually edited the picture to color in the silver and red, as those were originally white. If this wouldn't have worked, I also thought of a basic red and black plaid pattern; we later realized it would actually also look great as the back of this blanket (as opposed to just a solid red back)!
IMG_2564.jpeg

Finno: Stars. The night sky filled with stars. ✨ This one I found looked so realistic and beautiful, so serene, the kind of sky to inspire awe and wonder while stargazing. I also love the faint clouds in the distance and the tiny lights below overlooking the cities.
IMG_2577.jpeg

Edrahil: At first I was looking around for an artsy pattern theme for him, but results were nothing like what I would give him, being either crazy and way too much, or being of actual paintings. 😂 When I asked Curvo for suggestions, she said he loves nature and earthy colors, which was very helpful. I found a lovely couple patterns of leafy plants and vines. The one below is actually of willow tree vines, like the tree he sits under in Curvo's drawing. ☺️ The back of the blanket is a nice brown to match the theme.

It was fun thinking about all these different blankets for all of you, and I am grateful to Curvo for giving me the opportunity to do so. If I could make these into reality I would, but this was the next best thing. May these blankets and Curvo's hot chocolate served in Edrahil's mugs keep you warm and cozy in your hearts, knowing you are all loved greatly. ❤️ (I also loved the addition of Pirate Curvo, heading off to dispense the rest of his gifts to everyone else! 😂)

Here's to the New Year, looking ahead to many blessings and continued friendships with you guys! ☺️😁🫂

Tiny Ghost has a reply :]

He comes forward, hands clasped together, and makes a low bow. "High Lord Fingon Nolofinwion, it has been great pleasure for this one to hear your words, and most especially to see the process by which you chose such excellent blankets. Of course, and most naturally, the ghosty one is the best for such snuggles as are possible for a fëa such as this one is. It can even be picked up by phantom hands!" He hurries back, tugs the blanket over his shoulders(where it sits most snugly), and then returns to you.

"Yet, even above the unexpected and precious gift of said blanket, most treasured is this revelation of the High Lord Fingon Nolofinwion's. Many times, it has been apparent the blood-brother of his High Majesty Maitimo is troubled because of all the words and thoughts slow-tumbling through his head, unable to truly settle and be toasty enough to set to paper. Once has it been done, and Tiny Ghost yet has that tale secreted under the throne of the most high, stern, and noble Lord Námo. Sometimes he reads it to the dread lord."

Tiny Ghost hovers forward a few steps, and though his features are still mostly veiled, it is just possible to track his wide-open eyes staring up into Fingon's.

"The words you gift us, my lord, are like the blossoming of a flower which opens up but once or twice a year, and yet its scent is such one would willingly trek a hundred miles through snow and ice, through the heat of a desert, to smell it that once. This one," he touches hand to his heart, "would have been less if you had never been encountered, never been heard by even such ghostly ears as may still hear. Be merry, my lord, for your gifts are kept softly in the heart. Many more miles might be trod before the next flower may be smellt, but they shall be trod with alacrity and much comfort. The blanket and the stars shall keep the traveler warm until the next blossom is found."

Tiny Ghost makes his lowest bow, and then retreats to a corner to sit and snuggle in his blanket.
