    Vote for Your favorite Hobbit

I was thinking about this as I was finishing up another round of reading of The Hobbit followed by the LOTR. And I think my favorite hobbit is Bilbo. I find so much in common with him. I also like Sam and Pippin as a close second and third. So my question is, who is your favorite hobbit?

“The Annotated Hobbit” by Douglas A. Anderson

This book is frequently referred to here but a real introduction to it was as yet outstanding (unless I overlooked it) so I will try to do that here. Its first edition appeared in September 1988, in recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of the first American publication of The Hobbit, but the...

Favourite track from The Hobbit Trilogy

Although it didn't live up to the lofty standards set by the score of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit still had some decent tracks in it. I personally liked the Misty Mountains song by Richard Armitage and the rest of the cast. Chilling, and appropriate. I like how the theme was also born out...

What Should I Read to Enrich a a Hobbit and LotR Re-read?

Hey all, I’m just finishing my first read through of the Silmarillion, and then I’m gonna do a re-read of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Before I start the re-read, I’m planning on reading the section in Unfinished Tales on the quest of Erebor. Anything else I should read to enrich this read...

Gollum actor Serkis to raise cash by reading entire Hobbit live online

This might be very interesting. He was excellent as Gollum in the movies and it's not his fault for the disgraceful end product that PJ created. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-52568497 ⛲

So many hobbits marry second cousins

Poring over the family trees (I'm into genealogy, and am so glad Tolkien drew these up), I noticed this. Hobbits don't marry FIRST cousins, ever... but second ones almost seems to be a custom. Just for clarity, a second cousin is when you share a set of great-grandparents... your parents are...
