Character Profiles​

Vardarianna
(Pronounced Varda-rianna)

• Age: 27 (in the year 54-55 of the 4th Age)
• Birthday: 22 Yavannië ~ 27 IV
• Birth Place: Emyn Arnen in Ithilien on the Estate of House Hurin.
• Heritage: ¾ Edain, ¼ Eldar
• Physique: 5' 9" and around 133 pounds. Shapely feminine frame that masked her true strength.
• Complexion: Fair and pale but she tans easy in the summer sun.
• Eyes: A deep blue/grey that sometimes has a silvery gleam to them.
• Hair: Long dark hair, appearing black except when in sunlight.

• Likes: The quiet. Being alone. Riding her horse in the forests of Ithilien. The sounds of the wind in the trees, the water running over stones in a creek, and the sound of the ocean on the shores of Harondor.
• Dislikes: I dislike being firstborn and not being heir to the throne! I dislike having to swear subservience to Eldarion, my younger brother by eight years. The only reason he is heir to the throne is because he was born male. I don't like attending formal social functions and state affairs of the Kingdom. They tend to be affairs where my marriage prospects are discussed. I hate the whole Courtship ritual. I do attend every event with a smiling face though, because I want to keep my finger on the pulse of ruling power of the kingdom.

• Personality: Vardarianna is fiercely independent and despite being the elder princess of the kingdom, relies on no one to meet her needs or provide her with a sense of self. As deeply loyal as she is to her father's kingship and her people, Vardarianna does not depend on her interactions with them for direction. She is content to follow her own passions and desires without input from anyone else.
• Mannerisms: Her face can be stern and her stare chilling when she is faced with demands of being the ‘princess and little sister’ of Prince Eldarion. In times of mirth, she has a captivating smile, but as she grew to full womanhood, her stoic nature became her norm. She didn’t have ‘resting "grouch"-face per-se, but her neutral demeanor was many times interpreted as such. A habit she always had when she was deep in thought was to rub the fabric of her sleeves between her fingers.

• Skills: Vardarianna was very good at stealth. She seemed to have inherited the 'Dúnedain Ranger's ways' from her father, and the natural quietness and lightness on her feet from her mother. She also learned herb-lore from her mother and had very good abilities of healing. Of weaponry, she learned the use of a bow from her father when he would take her and Eldarion hunting in Ithilien. One of her father's Dúnedain brethren from the north gifted her a fine bow when she was sixteen years of age and came to the northern realm with her brother. It wasn't long spent there that Vardarianna became a very skilled hunter. She learned knife and sword work while there as well. Training with the elder and younger Dúnedain. Vardarianna would also practice on her own. She hoped one day when she returned to Gondor that she would be able to compete in the tournaments.

• History: Born prematurely in Ithilien when her father Aragorn and mother Arwen were visiting Lord Steward Faramir and Lady Eowyn, Princess Vardarianna was the first-born child to King Aragorn and Lady Arwen. Lady Arwen and Vardarianna stayed with the Lord Steward Faramir and Lady Éowyn in the estate of House Hurin which stood among the wooded highlands of Emyn Arnen. There they remained while the young infant at first fought for her life and began to grow stronger. It was five months before they returned to Minas Anor before the winter came.

[Halasían]

Mecarnil

Born: 18 Lotesse 2978 III
Heritage: Northern Dunédain. Though he is from Arthedain, he has Cardolanion lineage.

Mecarnil was one of the thirty Dunédain rangers that rode south with Halbarad in aid of Chieftain Aragorn. Hanasian and Mecarnil had met each other in passing in Rivendell before they rode together south, and became friends and comrades in battle during the war and afterward. After the marriage of Aragorn and Arwen, Mecarnil remained in Gondor for a time before he returned to the north. to the service of Cardolan's uncrowned king in the early years of the Fourth Age. Joined his Ranger comrade Hanasian in the Black Company after the deaths of Bereth and Verawyn and the loss of their infant daughter, Erian. Mecarnil is the only known living Ranger from a Cardolanian line, and he knew Bereth and his family.

Mercain​

Born: 24 Yavannië 22 IV – Location: Bree
Heritage: Northern Dunédain
Height: 6’1”
Build: Lithe and lanky – though he had considerable strength acquired as a result of his chosen path as a soldier of the Reunited Realm.
Hair: Black and mostly straight, usually kept no longer than his collar as per the tradition of his people.
Eyes: Clear, vibrant grey – like the river stones that gleam beneath the clear waters of a rushing river.
Skills: Mercain, having been born to Mecarnil, Dunédain Ranger of the North, followed in his father's footsteps. He grew up training with swords, knives, and bows around his home in the north, and trained with bows, spears, and axes when he stayed for a time in Rohan with Halcwyn, sister of Hanasían. In Gondor he studied formation tactics and with his heirloom long sword of Westernesse, his preferred weapon, tasted battle when he rode with Faramir's Ithilien army to engage an Easterling warlord.

A question was asked about Vardarianna's character depiction photo. It is an uncredited AI artwork image I found randomly on Pinterest. I was unsuccessful in tracking down the original creator of the image.
