In early drafts Tolkien mentioned that Earendil on his numerous adventures killed Ungoliant. However in published Silmarillion he didnt stated how exactly she died. What is your opinion about that?
In The Silmarillion, Ungoliant was believed to have consumed herself (thus leading to her death) after she could not find any more sources of light to consume, considering that Morgoth refused to hand over the Silmarils to her and kept them for himself.
