Gaffer has seen it, Gaffer knows.

OH NO! What?!? I've sat through this Arwen nonsense and there is now no real romance between two of the greatest creations in literature!!! No one said being a hopeless romantic was easy...if PJ can't see the beauty we do betwen F and E, then, well, IT'S HIS LOSS!!! *bangs head on table and runs for well-worn "Steward and the King" for consolement*

Just repeat over and over to yourself, it's in the EE, it's in the EE, it's in the EE...etc...

Shush, GW, we're busy! *goes with simbelmyne to start memorizing 'The Steward and the King' again*

LOL...hey Rhiannon, do ya remember when Faramir wraps Eoywn in his mother's cloak?;) :p

It's a double shame because I really like the actors that are playing F and E...

Of course I do...it's only my favorite scene...I only have it memorized...I only lie around repeating it to myself at night...I'm only a hopeless sentimental...

I know! 'Okay...they ruined Faramir, but the actor is good...let's cross our fingers and hope they fix him in the EE.' 'Okay, they didn't fix Faramir, but we still have E/F to look forward too...'

I feel so betrayed.

To me, they did fix Faramir in the TTT:EE, his charecter got so much more depth and a motive to his actions.

Also, his charecter is more reminicent to the books in RotK than he was in TTT.

I normally hate spoilers, but thanks Ol'gaffer. I think I will probably see the film after all.

Well, that's something. But I'm picky picky picky picky. We're talking about a character I've been in love with since I was seven. It's still driving me bonkers that his hair isn't black.

What an amazing movie. I, being me, didn't know that Eowyn and Faramir were supposed to be an item, so that omission didn't bug me.

SPOILERS

I did think that Legolas' taking the oliphaunt (those things are freakin' huge! ) down was a little farfetched....must've been some of his Elf snow-walking ability coming through into standing on the vertical side of a moving mountain. :p Denethor freaked me out - if there was a reason for his madness, they should've put it in. Shelob was awesome - very intense. I had always pictured the entire length of Frodo's finger being literally torn off, so Gollum gnawing it off at the joint kinda bugged me. Easier for Wood to fold it back, though. ;) The Dead were amazing - again, me being me, I didn't know that an army of dead dudes came out and chopped the hell outta the bad guys; that was very cool. I thought Aragorn should've kept them around until the last battle and freed them then. :D

Anyway, I doubt most of you know me anyway, but I loved the movie. Enjoy the next week. ;)

Gaffer, in your opinion, which LOTR movie was best? Where did ROTK place? Im just trying to get a feel of what to expect. I have been freaking going out of my mind waiting.

Now that my review is out in finland, I can finally post more of the movie here.

In my view, out of the TE movies, I'd say that currently RotK stands out as the winner, but as for the EE versions, and this is still incomplete as RotK hasn't been released, nothing can beat FotR.

RotK was an amazing movie, it was like FotR, amazing and true to the book, only a few changes bugged me of wich the main point would have had to been the dumbing down of Denethor to a simple old fool. As an actor, John Noble did an awesome role as the aging and crazy Denethor, but his charecter was paper thin and everything of his madness was changed, his charecter now went mad overtime and the loss of Boromir was the final thing that threw him over the edge.

But like said, as I'am not a purist I did not let that bother me because cinematically, that worked well, bookwise, well, it could have been a lot better.

As for everything else? Pure triple-A class. Everything from storytelling to the epic battle scenes were by far the greatest things ever brought on screen. The Battle of the Pellenor Fields is an epic battle that every single battle filmed from this day on will be measured upon.

Ofcourse this is just my opinion, and I'm quite sure that for the next months I will have many heated debates with many of the purists here as they go through the movie frame by frame looking for things to complain about, but to me. This movie was an experience that I was more than glad to have.

HAHAHA yeah, no doubt about the purits Gaffer. I enjoyed the movies equally as the books. The first two were extremely excellent.

Thanks Ol' gaffer, for throwing out those tidbits...It's good to hear some of my fears are going to be unfounded. Did you mean to say that there were no Balrogs/Balrocks/Albino Orcs? Now I'm shocked. ;)
And what about that old guy in the glasses and nightcap who looked like Ed McMahon? I hope he's not in it. Though maybe he'll be back in the EE DVD. I wish MD was here to help straighten these things out. I even had that picture of the "alleged" Balrock on my desktop to examine it more closely, and I still couldn't make heads or tails of it. ;)

Yes, thanks for your postings, Ol'gaffer. RotK must be quite good indeed to get a better review than the TE of FotR, but then it is a climax of so many things and the whole journey of the members of the Fellowship and others has built to this final "chapter," so based on that, you'd think it would have the edge on FotR. Then again, how can I--myself--really say that one film is so much "better" than another when I truly view each film as one third of the whole story. But it is encouraging to know that RotK is more or less a faithful adaptation, probably moreso than TTT.
