🧙Gandalf's first journey through moria

He went in through the other door, and simply pushed the West gate open from the inside.

because that would have given away wether it had wings or not, its the biggest disscusion on LOTR to this day, and its always the same answer, we dont know, so if PJ did make it fly, then he would have answered that question, and not even PJ would ruin it that badly...

Well, if you'r falling that fast in such close quarters, you wouldn't be able to fly out. And, Tolkien never said Balrogs had wings. I myself think they do, but not wings you can fly with. Just, articles of fearsomeness sort of.

"The answer to your first question, Boromir,' said the wizard, `is that I do not know the word-yet. But we shall soon see. And,' he added, with a glint in his eyes under their bristling brows, 'you may ask what is the use of my deeds when they are proved useless. As for your other question: do you doubt my tale? Or have you no wits left? I did not enter this way. I came from the East."

:D

About the Balrog,
I read all about the debate on whether the Balrogs had wings, but a search came up with no threads. can someone give me the link please? By the way,
It stepped forward slowly on to the bridge, and suddenly it drew itself up to great height, and it's WINGS were spread from wall to wall
p345 seems to answer the question about this particular Balrog, but maybe they all were different.

There is a looonngg thread Stickied at the top of the Hall of Fire forum, check it out.
And in there you will find that there are two instances where 'wings' are mentioned, and both are quite ambiguous, which is why all the debating has been going on.
In fact, I'll just give you the link, because I'm such a nice guy. :) Here you go.
But no more talk about it here! :p
