Guess the Definition

Really? I wasn't trying to.... I only said that about poetic movement of light so you wouldn't think my "moving light " correction was the pontificating of a pedantic, dry-as-dust professorial type (which it was... I just didn't want you to think it was 😬🙄😄😉)
Don't worry about it, I'm just trying to be a helpful Word-Giver. I know it can be a little discouraging when a guessing game goes on for a long time, so while I'm not giving the answer away, I am trying to offer directional hints and encouragement. :]

Also, I genuinely appreciate corrections such as those. They can be quite useful on numerous occasions, so keep 'em coming if you see me blurring distinctions again!

There's a scrabble playing group at the bookstore cafe I'm writing at. I told them about the sheepish lambent definition. It got a great laugh. Then one person silently looked it up in their dictionary and showed it to a colleague, who then READ IT ALOUD.

So, I'm inadvertently disqualified. :(
That's where the dope slap comes in handy.

Oof, oh well.
Hey, at least they enjoyed the  lambent. All the puns are now possible >:}

Is it the concept of light transitioning from one stage to another/changing color shades in the sky based on the time of day/evening?

Let's try a different hint:
Lambent has two meanings. The first is a verb, and can be instigated by moving light(not typically caused by the sun or moon).
The second is an effect, and while the sun or moon may be the cause of that effect, so may any other source of light. Think gentle.
