If you remove the 'mor's you get Doria (dor + ia), sounds like Doriath just missing the 'th'. Maybe Thingol secretly survived the Doriath sacking and was so mad he turned into Durin's bane, a revenge on dwarves for all ages until spoiled sport Gandalf came along and ruined the fun.
