Drawing Madi's Random Doodles

I've been working on my portrait skills for a few months now have been taking lessons from the amazing @Maedhros_Nelyafinwë. If it wasn't for her, I'd have never dared try this and would have stick to my...well, stickmen. *Cough*

This is my attempts of trying to draw Fëanorians(and Finwians as a whole in the upcoming days) in the old anime style of 70s. My mom grew up with those, and I also ended up watching them with her the few times the were aired again. They were the only style of anime I was ever seriously exposed to, so it's rather unsurprising I ended up adapting that style to draw my current obsessions.

It all started yesterday when I first attempted to draw a face out of boredom which ended up being Celegorm, which also ended up leading my spiralling down this path. Anyways...

The Ambarussar:

Caranthir: (I am happy to say his ended up being a grumpy and more manly version of Nerdanel)

Nerdanel: (she has some subtle masculine features)

Maedhros: (he somehow ended up having Nerdanel's eyes, even though I drew him first.)

Celegorm: (this is based on an RP, whicg is why he has such short hair.)

Mini dad(Curufin): (I am stupidly proud of his round and arched brows. He's smelling like trouble!)

Lindiel(my oc):

Fingolfin: (he has some similar features to Fëanor)

Fëanor: (doesn't he look like he wants to speak to your manager?)

Maglor: (Mr. Ponytail!)

I can definitely tell the eyes are anime style! I'm not familiar with 70s anime or the art style of it, but I like the cutesy anime eyes with a more realistic face. It's great that you're experimenting with different styles!

I loved Maitimo, of course! He actually looks believably like my imagining of his facial features, with the sharp cheekbones and pointy chin and elegantly arched eyebrows-- did you do that on purpose? And the curly hair, obviously! I can't wait to do the curly hair lesson with you guys...

Fëanor's definitely got a sassy smirk going, and I think your Lindiel came out super cute!

One question, though:

Why in all Arda did you give Maglor a Barbie ponytail??? 😂

(Well, I guess if I can put the Fëanorians in ugly 2000s clothing, you can give Maglor a Barbie ponytail, lol. He's certainly dramatic enough to do that.)

Aww thanks! And yes, I definitely got inspiration from how you draw Timo to draw him here.

And I can't wait for our next lesson either! I miss chatting with you guys!
Because he doesn't wash his hair and has no choice but to tie it that way!

Before I forget, a completed Nessa!

I used Steinbach paper and MQ color pencils to first make a base over paper, which made me come to this conclusion that drawing on paper first before editing it digitally gives me the best results. (I'm still not that experienced when it comes to painting with different digital brushes, so I need a base.)

She looked like this at first.

As I said before, I think your colouring looks really good, even in the pencil-only stage.

Maitimo to Tyelko and Curvo: GUYS!!! WEAR. REAL. CLOTHING. NOT. FISHNET CROP TOPS!!!! *throws some shirts at them*

Maitimo to Kano and Curvo: *walks past them, inhales, makes a face, and throws shampoo bottles at them* WASH. YOUR. HAIR. YOU. OVERDRAMATIC CREATIVE GENIUSES!!!
