Let's pay some more attention to this character that is not so often discussed compared to some others....
You can provide any ideas, facts or suggestions on Maeglin's story and the moral of it. Anything that gave you a strong impression or whatever you'd like to post.
Brainstorm ideas:
1. How did Maeglin’s feelings for Idril shape his identity and actions in Gondolin?
2. Beyond mere obsession, do you think his unrequited love was a reflection of deeper desires for power and belonging, and how did it influence his view of loyalty, kinship, and betrayal?
3. Was his fate determined by his upbringing or his own choices?
4. How could Maeglin have been guided differently to avoid the bitterness and anger that ultimately led to his betrayal of Gondolin?
5. How does Maeglin’s story reflect the larger themes of fate, free will, and corruption in The Silmarillion?
6. Did he love Idril purely and have bad luck to be her cousin, or was it perverted, or was it kind of pure but destined to corruption due to a) they were related b) he wanted power once she rejected him?
