My Sewing/Cosplay Projects

Thank you! I recently updated my complainer app and it's currently at about 210 hours! 🫠

The neckline was really fun to make. Dozens of yards of that ruffled trim sewn on in a very tight zigzag pattern!
It just occurred to me... what do you do with all the lovely outfits/gowns/ costumes you make?
Do you a huge antique wardrobe in which you store them? (along with some furs).

How very cool!! Reminds me of when you made the front cover for the Jackson Civil War Muster program a couple years ago. 😁

Your dress looks lovely in action on the Red Carpet, and your position is on-point! I love the stars you added to the skirt, as they really do complete the look. What a fun way to kick off the MegaCon and officially debut Star Princess! ✨☺️❤️

So I'm still at the con (killing time while waiting to see Sean Astin and Liv Tyler) but I couldn't wait to share the highlight of the whole trip!

So if you're not very familiar with Phantom of the Opera, watch this clip first.

And now.

WATCH THIS.

Long story short: my dream of playing Christine in some way has come true in a small capacity!

So on Thursday, I was wearing Star Princess, and I hadn't been there 5 minutes before I hear someone call out, "Christine!" So I turn and see this guy, and we start talking, and he tells me he'll be cosplaying the Phantom's Red Death outfit on Saturday.

I need you guys to understand the astronomical odds of this happening. There are over 100,000 people at this con. And next to no one cosplays Red Death Phantom, which is the counterpart to Star Princess. I didn't think I'd see any Phantom cosplayers, let alone a Red Death Phantom!!!

It really feels like God went ahead of me to give me a very special con experience!

This is absolutely incredible!!! 🥰 Imagine hearing someone call out to you as the character you cosplay, and you turn around and see your precise counterpart in all its glorious obscurity!!! 😲

And from one who has never seen PotO, you both were spot on between the two videos. Your cosplay outshines everyone around you, and his is so epically phantasmal. 🤩

I agree the divine orchestration is impossible to miss. A little slice of all the joy God has in store for you. ❤️

What a cool bit of serendipity! It reminded me of a con I attended shortly after the first Star Wars came out: a guy showed up for the costume contest as Luke, and ran into a young woman doing Leia, so they decided to enter together (she even got in the "once for luck" moment 😉).

Do I take it they don't have something like that at this con, or are there just too many cosplayers to manage it?

Which just so happened to be the other day you were planning on wearing Star Princess. :>

I saw the video on Instagram first, and it looked fantastic! (or... phantastic 🥁)
I thought to myself you really could play Christine on stage. Your appearance and acting/mannerisms looked just right. ☺️

The two of you are certainly extremely familiar with the musical to be able to act it out so well on the spot (with, I assume, little or no practice of this particular moment)!

Catching up on some of your guys' comments!

It just occurred to me... what do you do with all the lovely outfits/gowns/ costumes you make?
Do you a huge antique wardrobe in which you store them? (along with some furs).
Most of them currently reside in my laundry room closet, lol.

You look like you are having a great time! The dress and boots are fantastic.
Thank you!

Wonderful to see the whole outfit 'in action' at last. 😎✨

I think the care and effort put into crafting this is very visible.

(also I note there were Minecraft villagers on another slide of the post! 👌)
Then you will especially like this pic...

(Many, many more pictures to come!)

Congratulations!!! ☄️🎊🎉.
I'll bet you were over the moon! 🤸‍♂️
Or over the stars, hehe!

Fantastic! All your hard work paid off. 😊

Worldcon next?
I'm not familiar with Worldcon!

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

I knew you were incredible, and now all Megacon knows, too. ❤️
D'aww! 🥺

Thank you, and yeah it really is a great shot!

You are awesome @Maedhros_Nelyafinwë !!! Congratulations! 😊 *By the way, your costume was without a doubt the best, in my opinion* 😌
Aww, thank you!

Well, he wasn't in his Red Death costume on Thursday. He just told me that he would be on Saturday. But I still couldn't believe what I was hearing and how this was beyond lucky!

And it was so cool and satisfying to be part of such a spectacle in the center of the convention!!!

That's cool! There was a cosplay contest in this con, but it's something we had to apply for and get accepted into.

That really means a lot to me! 🥺 Don't know if I'll ever get the opportunity, but I got a taste of it this weekend!

And yeah, this Red Death Phantom cosplayer guy is one of the only people I've met in person (besides @Fingon_Findekáno ) who's as knowledgeable about Phantom as I am, if not more so. He knows a lot about the various productions around the world.

And yes, we both are extremely familiar with how all the Phantom scenes play out. It took me a while to actually find him on Saturday (I was at the wrong staircase) and when I did find him, he was already in the middle of filming his video. So I just impulsively jumped in, and we shot a few takes and were pleased with the results! He told me he thought my acting as Christine was really good!

And a while back, the official Phantom of the Opera account posted a tutorial on how to do the official choreography of the Masquerade dance. I learned it because I figured I might need it one day as a Star Princess cosplayer... and Saturday was that day! ✨️🌟

Bravi! Bravi! Bravissimi! 👏

Oh, how much fun for you to do this!! I wish I could have been there. I'm sure it was a total delight for Christopher as well to "coincidentally" find a Star Princess and film this scene together with you. I love it when people can engage with their characters in creative ways like this!

You were a lovely Christine, both in your acting and your appearance! To see Star Princess in action, in the scene it was meant for, alongside Red Death, is amazing. Now all you need is a Raoul in his Hussar costume (or a Raoul at all, so you can do "All I Ask of You" in your Rooftop Christine dress! ✨)!

And his Red Death looks wonderful! Very dramatic with his menacing presence and flair. Some of his poses on the stairs reminded me of the Red Death Phantom from the 1925 Lon Chaney film, though of course it also matches the musical as well. And he even brought along his Don Juan Triumphant! Bonus points for channeling Michael Crawford and Anthony Warlow. 👌

Hehehehe, I like you guys also included the Phantom's poof and reappearance at the top of the stairs at the end. 😂

And yeah, this Red Death Phantom cosplayer guy is one of the only people I've met in person (besides @Fingon_Findekáno ) who's as knowledgeable about Phantom as I am, if not more so. He knows a lot about the various productions around the world.
I approve of him being so deeply knowledgeable of Phantom! There are indeed many interesting details and variations among the international Phantom productions to see. Hooray for finding somebody at MegaCon who you could have stimulating, in-depth conversations about Phantom with! 😁

Awesome! I take it the filmographer must have been a friend of his, since he was already filming when you found him?

How perfectly that worked out! Everything came together serendipitously (orchestrated by God) to make this one very memorable MegaCon! ☺️❤️✨

Wow! What a fantastic experience. God blesses us in so many delightful ways.

That is so cool! I'm so glad you got to experience that. You and Christopher's impression was spot on and was a very good imitation of the actual clip. I'm glad you're having a good time!

I've been working very hard lately to make some new undergarments and upgrade some existing pieces before my first Civil War reenactment of the summer, which is next weekend. A few weeks ago I finished a new chemise, which came out really nice. And I've started an Instagram post series, which explains the different layers of Victorian clothing. Here's the first installment, which provides lots of detailed info about the chemise! You'll have to swipe through the different photos, because each one has a different caption.

Edit: Looks like the different caption for each photo is not flowing through to TTF. If you want to read the different captions and get all the info, you'll have to actually go to Instagram, I think.

Beautiful! My mother actually made an undergarment like that. Very nice!
