Just for fun, since we don't know, but isn't it odd.

Radagast isn't telling Treebeard anything.
The eagles aren't telling Treebeard anything.
Gandalf could find out from Tommy if either were willing to broach the subject.

The ladies didn't likely choose the old forest, cuz the point was that they were gardening.. unless that was a ploy.

Perhaps they boarded a ship. Or joined up with the enemy. Or wound up as kindling. Or the planking of a ship.

Maybe they didn't go anywhere, but whenever an ent is coming, they stand really still.

Radagast might not have known.

Maybe when they left they were destroyed by the enemy.

Maybe they traveled north secretly and dwindled in secret.

Tom is little concerned with things outside his borders.

Gandalf probably didn't know.
