I've heard various people complaining about how PJ may cut the Scouring Of The Shire out of the 3rd film. Understandable, of course, but most people said that they couldn't cut it because it was showed in Galadriels Mirror in FOTR.

Perhaps this has been pointed out before? I don't know, but after Frodo looks in the mirror, Galadriel said that was what would happen if he failed on his quest. So, it was therefore not The Scouring Of The Shire and they can cut as they feel appropriate. Darn.

yes she did say that but there are words from pj himself saying that that was the scourning of the shire. We have to wait 2 years to see! :( :(

I am sure PJ is doing everything he can to pull as much from the book and put into the movie as he can. He loves these books, remember?

The Scouring is really a vital part of the book, it shows how the Hobbits have matured over their journey and are capable of handling anything. And it also shows the evil hitting at their homes which is far worse than facing Orcs at the gates of Mordor. Should be interesting to see. Let's hope he doesn't cut it. I know he wouldn't want to, but he may be forced to, time restrictions and the like.

Bahhh!

P.J. copped out! What a wuss. I don't care how much anyone defends him. The scouring of the shire could've been done very well. A suitable denumont (or however you spell it) for the whole movie(s).

Did anyone ever see "The Shootist" with John Wayne? Now there would be a boring peice of tripe on the surface if ever there was one. But for true hard core JW fans it was an essential peice of closure to the whole genre.

I mean so they lose 20% of the audience or something cause there's no blood, guts, gore, and boobies (holywood formula), so what count how many Tolkien fans there are out there and look at the relative low cost of doing the Scouring of the Shire!!!

P.J. "blew his wad" and missed giving her a "tickle" as far as I'm concerned! Choked just short of the end. He seems to be doing fine until then.

But then again it's easy to sit here in my armchair and bitch. I guess I just wanted to see the Grey Havens....*sniff*

JoA.

oh but it is in! The gray havens are in! I dont know what happens from here to there but all i know is that the grey havens part is in. But maybe the "well. Im back." part isnt. I can definitly see the ship passing slowly into the sunrise and once it vanishes from sight the words the end fade into the screen. Ahh. Something right out of a lone ranger movie.
