So I was watching Two Towers, theatrical...I'd only seen extended for the longest time, but grew weary of the bloating in it (in my opinion, the only film really served by the extended cut is Fellowship, but that's another debate). Anyway, it got to the Warg fight and when Theoden says, "All riders to the head of the column," Gimli gets on his horse, then it cuts over to Legolas staring out alone at the Wargs approaching...and then it cut directly to the riders all charging the Wargs! No dialogue between Theoden and Eowyn, no look between her and Aragorn as he rides away, no Legolas jumping up onto the horse. And no, the DVD didn't skip---I rewound and made sure.
Thing is, I was SURE those bits were in the theatrical version...I saw it in the theatre back in 2002 and remember them. To make sure I wasn't crazy I looked it up and yeah, it lists no difference there between extended and theatrical---the footage should have been there. Is there some weird DVD where that's just that little bit missing? Anyone else had this happen? I actually stopped watching the film---that farewell look between Eowyn and Aragorn is such a great moment it absolutely needs to be there, and I'm absolutely stumped how it's not. Nothing I've looked up holds any answers. Thoughts?
