Welp.

Not out until the 12th here in Oz and the 13th in the USA.
As I stated above, WB seems intent on failing this film as they haven't really promoted it and seems only die hard fans will go out to see it. The CEO of WB already made clear he hates animation, among many things. I read the comments of that FB post I shared, a lot of folks had no idea a LOTR film was even coming out.

I went to the source as I was curious where the '31 territories' were. They only named three.

It will be a fun fanfic. I went to see the Bakshi film in the theatre when it came out too.

How shocking, when you put the success of a niche and poorly marketed anime film next to the success of a movie made by one of the biggest animation powerhouses in the world, which just so happens to be a sequel to their most successful animated movie of all time and is almost definitely a cash grab, it looks pretty bad!

Okay, sarcasm aside--it is a shame how WB has dropped the ball on this and refuses to respect animation . . . But, as I've said before on this thread I didn't really expect this film to be publicly successful, even if it's a fantastic film not many people are actually going to see it. My only hope is that all the animators and artists who worked on it are still getting paid what they need.

I, for one, am excited to see the movie and plan to watch it with the intention of enjoying it for what it is. Yes, I still have some slight reservations over what they might do with Hera’s character and the potential of making her too overpowered just because she’s the female lead, but overall, I’ve quite liked what I’ve seen in the trailers and look forward to the whole film.

Finally, after first hearing about it last year, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is nearly here, premiering at the end of the week! 😃

Bingo!

Zaslav just hates animation.
WB's stock is plummeting as a result.

I've seen/read a few reviews in the meantime. Very contradictory so far. So see for yourself... 😄

I saw five (German) reviews on Youtube lately - they were between relatively and very negative. One reviewer meant it doesn't matter whether you are primarily a fan of Tolkien, Peter Jackson or Anime - according to him it's "irrelevant" in any case.

I still have my tin popcorn bucket from when Dune Pt2 came out, and while it's very cool and I love the design, it's such an awkward shape that I can't really use it as a container. Now it just sits on my shelf collecting dust because I'm not a big movie person, so it's not like I'm eating popcorn all the time.

As silly as the hammer seems, it would look much more interesting on a shelf then my empty bucket 😅. It's certainly meant to be more of a souvenir then it is practical.
